112th Annual GPTC/Nike Tennis Championships of Oregon |
|
The Nike Tennis Championships of Oregon is a GPTC sponsored tournament. The GPTC celebrated it's 20th anniversary in 2009 as the coordinator of this historic tournament. The roots of this tournament go back to 1899 when it was known as the Oregon State Tennis Championships played at the Multnomah Athletic Club. The tournament's champions include many Pacific Northwest tennis legends, including Elwood Cooke, Emery Neale, Sam Lee, Stella Fording and many other tennis greats. In recent memory, champions have included Kelcey McKenna, Ashley Joelson, Roman Borvanov, Kean Feeder, and Brian Joelson just to name a few. The champions of this historic tournament are great. Who will be next?
This is the largest source of income for the GPTC. With this income, the GPTC is able to support a variety of local tennis programs. By playing in this tournament, you not only participate in a historic tennis tournament, but you show you commitment to the growth of tennis in the Greater Portland area. With your support, we will be able to help more kids and adults play the greatest sport around!
The Nike Tennis Championships is so large is must be played at 3 facilities. It is the only National Category II tournament in Oregon. The Open and NTRP Divisions are held at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center. The Senior Men's Divisions are held at Mt. Park Racquet Club. The Senior Women's Divisions are held at the West Hills Racquet & Fitness Club.
